SUPPLEMENTS
Vitamin D. Data suggests that a majority of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D, primarily because it’s difficult to get from food. While most know that sunlight is a great source of vitamin D, the sun is not strong enough in most parts of the country from November to March to provide you with sufficient amounts.
Magnesium. Magnesium helps keep blood pressure normal, bones strong, and the heart rhythm steady. Experts say that many people in the U.S. aren't eating enough foods with magnesium. Low magnesium has been associated with heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and certain cancers.
Omega-3’s. Few nutrients have been studied as thoroughly as omega-3 fatty acids. The amount of omega-3 a person needs depends on their age, sex, and health status. People should eat oily fish at least twice per week to get adequate EPA and DHA. If you’re not doing that, a supplement can help! They may help lower the risk of heart disease, depression, dementia, and arthritis. Your body can't make them. You must eat them or take supplements.
Vitamin B12. Since your body doesn't make vitamin B12 on its own, you have to get it from animal-based foods or from supplements. And you should do that on a regular basis. While B12 can be stored in the liver for up to five years, you can eventually become deficient if not well maintained by your diet.
Probiotics. Probiotics are live microorganisms that have health benefits when consumed. Probiotics, which are usually called beneficial bacteria, provide all sorts of powerful benefits for your body and brain. Consuming probiotics may improve digestive health, reduce depression, improve heart health, enhance immune function, assist with weight loss and lead to healthier skin.
Biotin. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, stimulates keratin production in hair and can increase the rate of follicle growth. It is not stored for long in the body - most of yours is from the foods you eat. In order to be effective, it needs to be consumed.
Athletic Greens, daily supplement powder. Greens supplements can help improve a diet that is low in fruits and vegetables. Fewer than 10% of Americans eat the recommended 5 servings (or more) of fruits and vegetables each day. And while Food is always a better option than supplements, if you’re not going to eat them, or you’re not going to eat enough, it’s better to supplement with greens than completely neglect this essential part of your nutrition.
GET THOSE ZZZ’s
Chili Pad. We could NOT survive in our house without this!! I’m always freezing and my husband is always hot. We are able to program our respective sides of the bed to heated temps (mine!) and cooler temps (his) to help us sleep comfortably all night, every night, year-round!
Sound Machine + Smart Light. Sound machines can give your brain something for your racing thoughts to focus on and listen to as you lay down to sleep. The color night light might also be helpful, as you can program it to match your bedtime routine and program the light to slowly dim as you drift off to sleep…And then slowly brighten as you start to awaken in the morning!
